Floor paint adds more appeal and protection to concrete floors. In order to avoid the floor from the effects of fading, you need to apply floor paints. Apart from just the protection, floor paint adds more beauty and decoration to your floor giving it a warm and welcoming finish. Some people mostly use floor paint in their residential houses; however, it is also ideal on garage floors, which are made with concrete. This is because it is waterproof and resistant to oils stains. Floor paints are also very easy to clean.

One can decide to have the floor paint job done through an expert; however, this can at times be expensive and inconveniencing. Due to this, you can still be able to paint the floor personally. In order to carry out the exercise of floor painting successfully, you will need other things apart from just the paint. You will need a floor cleaner, paint brush, paint tray and liners, paint rollers with extension handles, plastic sheeting and tape among others. With these in place, you can go ahead and paint your floor using the tips below.
a) Decide on the best day: Floor painting is not an hour’s task, and can take you even up to two days and so you need to set the best days that you would wish to conduct it since once you begin, it should not be delayed. The task should be done in one bit and the floor paint left to dry which mostly takes at least 24 hours. Settle on the best weather, probably with temperatures ranging between 50 to 80 Degrees Fahrenheit.
b) Prepare the surface to be painted: Prior to the application of floor paint, ensure that you properly clean the surface of the floor. This is intended to wipe out any stains, which might hinder the paint from properly sticking onto the floor. You will also need to eliminate any cracks on the floor by filling them up. Scrub the floor well to ensure that there are no grease or oils and dirt on the surface since these will not allow paint to penetrate well. In preparation, you will also need to secure your walls and any other surfaces, which might be stained by the paint during application. Cover the bases of the walls and those surfaces using plastic sheeting.
c) Apply the floor paint: When the floor has been scrubbed thoroughly and the walls and other surfaces covered, it is now safe to begin the painting exercise. Some floor paints come with hardeners, you will need to mix the two in the recommended ratios according to the given instructions. For a perfect outcome, it’s important that the paints are only mixed in the ratios since working with paint that is not combined well might not stick well on your floor and even at times damage the floor further. You can apply floor paint using a paintbrush and paint rollers with extension handles. The rollers make work easier because they are able to paint larger areas while the brush can be used doing the finishes in areas like cracks which the rollers cannot reach perfectly. The number of coats that you will apply however depends on the condition of the floor and maybe the effect that you might need to create.
